MANUSCRIPTS CATEGORIES AND REQUIREMENTS
The International Journal of Mechatronics, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence (IJMRAI) accepts the following types of manuscript submissions:
1. Original Research Article
Original research articles must present comprehensive and well-structured studies. These manuscripts should include the following components: an abstract, introduction, system description, methodology or modeling approach, experimental setup (including feature tables, installation procedures, and scenario outlines), procedural details (practical or simulated), results in graphical or tabular form, discussion of findings, conclusions, and references. Authors may refer to a sample article for formatting guidance.
2. Review Article
Review articles offer an extensive overview of existing literature relevant to the journal’s subject areas. They are expected to synthesize key concepts, summarize critical developments, and reference all significant prior work. These articles may also include comparative analyses and discussion of research findings. Although review articles do not typically introduce novel research, their value lies in their clarity, depth, and utility as a foundational resource for scholars and practitioners within the field.
3. Short Communication
Short articles provide concise reports of original research that present novel findings of broad relevance to the journal’s readership. These manuscripts should include an abstract, a brief introduction outlining the study’s significance, a concise description of the methodology, experimental procedures, a discussion of results, conclusions, and references. The total length of a short article should not exceed 4,000 words.
Each manuscript must be prepared in accordance with the journal’s formatting guidelines and clearly categorized at the time of submission
PUBLICATION ETHICS AND PUBLICATION MALPRACTICE POLICY
Ethical Principles
IJMRAI adheres strictly to the ethical standards outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All submitted manuscripts must conform to these standards, ensuring that the research is conducted and reported with integrity. Authors are expected to confirm that their work is free from unethical practices such as plagiarism, data fabrication, inappropriate authorship allocation, duplicate submission, undisclosed conflicts of interest, and unethical research conduct.
Reviewers are also bound by ethical obligations. They must treat submitted manuscripts as confidential and declare any potential conflicts of interest that may influence their judgment.
In cases of suspected misconduct, IJMRAI reserves the right to initiate investigations, which may involve contacting affiliated institutions, funding bodies, or relevant authorities. To identify potential ethical breaches, submitted manuscripts are screened for similarity using the EDAS platform.
Authors are responsible for addressing any editorial queries and must remain reachable even after publication to respond to critiques or provide clarifications. Furthermore, authors are encouraged to deposit supporting research materials (e.g., datasets, software, protocols) in publicly accessible repositories and must include a data availability statement with links to the repositories.
Peer Review and Manuscript Acceptance
Manuscripts undergo an initial review by the editorial team to verify alignment with the journal’s scope, ethical standards, and submission guidelines. Subsequently, submissions proceed to a single-blind peer review by qualified reviewers. Final acceptance decisions are based on the reviewers’ assessments. For further details, refer to the journal’s Peer Review Policy .
Authorship and Contributions
Manuscripts must clearly list all contributing authors, their full names, affiliations, and contact information. The order of authorship should reflect mutual agreement based on intellectual contribution, academic rank, or project leadership. All listed authors must have participated meaningfully in the research and share equal responsibility for the content’s validity and accuracy.
Author information must also be correctly entered during manuscript registration on the EDAS system. Authors will receive confirmation upon successful registration and may raise any concerns regarding authorship conflicts through official channels.
Complaints and Appeals Process
Appeals related to editorial decisions, such as manuscript rejections, should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief. Appeals will be evaluated based on merit, possibly involving an independent review. The final decision will be communicated to the author and is considered binding.
Operational complaints (e.g., delays) will be reviewed by the editorial team, with feedback provided to improve internal workflows.
Ethical concerns, including allegations against authors or reviewers, will be addressed per IJMRAI‘s ethical guidelines and may involve consultation with the publisher or external experts.
Authors may contact the journal regarding any of the above matters via email at: aliabed@ijmrai.edu.iq .
Conflicts of Interest
IJMRAI follows COPE’s guidelines on conflict of interest. Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that may influence their work, such as funding, stock ownership, consultancies, or advisory roles. Such declarations ensure transparency without necessarily disqualifying a manuscript from consideration. If no conflict exists, authors must explicitly state:
“The authors declare no conflicts of interest relevant to this work.”
Data Sharing and Reproducibility
Authors are strongly encouraged to share all relevant research data raw and processed as well as methods, tools, and materials used in the study. A data availability statement, including direct repository links, must be included in the manuscript.
Ethical Oversight
Consistent with COPE’s definition, IJMRAI requires strict ethical oversight regarding human and animal research, informed consent, data confidentiality, and vulnerable populations. All research must comply with recognized ethical standards. The editorial board will review any complaints about ethical breaches and may act upon recommendations from oversight bodies.
Open Access and Copyright Policy
All IJMRAI publications are open access and distributed under a Creative Commons license. Authors retain copyright of their work while granting IJMRAI the right to publish and distribute it. Third parties may reuse content, provided that proper citation is maintained and the work’s integrity is preserved.
Post-Publication Discussions and Corrections
IJMRAI maintains the right to review and address ethical concerns raised after publication. Depending on the findings of such investigations, the journal may:
- Reject or retract the manuscript
- Issue a correction or expression of concern
- Contact the authors’ affiliated institutions
Retractions will be clearly labeled, and explanations will be provided. IJMRAI also honors requests for author name changes under valid circumstances such as gender transition or religious conversion.
Note: Any disputes regarding authorship arising during or after peer review must be resolved by the involved parties. The journal will not mediate such disputes but may withdraw the manuscript or notify institutional authorities if needed.
Exceptional Article Removal
In rare cases, IJMRAI may permanently or temporarily remove an article from its online platform. Justifications may include legal violations, defamatory content, or public health risks. Bibliographic metadata will remain, along with a formal statement explaining the removal.
Funding Disclosure
Authors must fully disclose all sources of financial support in the Acknowledgment section. They are responsible for accurately naming the funding bodies. Reference can be made to the Open Funder Registry for correct funder identification.
PREPARING THE SUBMISSION
Language and Proofreading Requirements
Manuscripts submitted to IJMRAI must be written in clear, grammatically correct English. Submissions that do not meet this standard will not proceed to the peer-review stage. Authors are encouraged to have their manuscripts reviewed by a native English speaker or a qualified language expert prior to submission.
IJMRAI offers a professional proofreading service for a fee, which can be requested by the authors. Please note that utilizing the proofreading service does not guarantee acceptance of the manuscript and does not imply any responsibility for the scientific content.
Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
All authors are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest related to the manuscript. It is the responsibility of the corresponding author to ensure that all co-authors are informed and have agreed to the final disclosure statement prior to submission.
Permissions and Copyright
Authors must properly cite all materials used from external sources. It is the corresponding author’s responsibility to obtain written permission for any previously published material (e.g., figures, tables, datasets) that is not covered under a license permitting reuse. Such permissions must be submitted alongside the manuscript.
When referencing unpublished work or material under consideration elsewhere, authors must obtain approval from at least one author of the cited work.
Ethical and Professional Responsibilities of Authors
In cases of alleged ethical violations, IJMRAI reserves the right to conduct a formal inquiry and, if necessary, refer the matter to the authors’ institutions, funding bodies, or other relevant authorities. Authors must ensure that their manuscript is original and free from plagiarism. All authors must participate in preparing the final version of the manuscript and share responsibility for its content.
Authorship and Contribution Criteria
Authorship should be based on substantial intellectual contribution to the research, including design, analysis, interpretation, and manuscript drafting. The order of authors must be agreed upon by all contributors before submission. All listed authors must approve the final version of the manuscript.
Manuscript Formatting Guidelines
Authors should format their submissions according to the official IJMRAI manuscript templates to facilitate the review process. While minor deviations are acceptable if formatting proves difficult, the journal’s production team will finalize the layout before publication.
Manuscript templates are available for download in the following formats:

PUBLICATION PROCESS AFTER ACCEPTANCE
Transfer to Production
Following the successful completion of the peer review process and formal acceptance of the manuscript, the article will be forwarded to the Production Office. The corresponding author will be contacted by a production staff member to coordinate any required revisions, formatting adjustments, or final improvements necessary to prepare the manuscript for publication.
Early View Publication
As IJMRAI follows a semi-annual publication schedule, accepted articles may experience a delay before being assigned to a specific journal issue. To mitigate this delay and enable earlier visibility and citation, IJMRAI offers an Early View option.
Once an accepted manuscript has undergone all production modifications and is in its final version, it will be assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI). This unique identifier allows the article to be cited and indexed immediately, even before it is formally published within a specific volume and issue.
Articles in the Early View category are made available on the journal’s website and remain fully citable using the assigned DOI. This ensures that authors and readers can benefit from timely access and dissemination of research findings.
For more information about DOIs, please visit the official DOI FAQ: http://www.doi.org/faq.html
